Samsung to Move Some Production of Smartphone to Vietnam Due To Coronavirus

Samsung says that after a positive employee has checked, it has stopped operations in its Gumi, a South Korea factory.

Samsung Electronics said on Friday that it would briefly move some cell phone creation to Vietnam from South Korea after another of its Korean staff tried positive for the coronavirus, constraining it to close an industrial facility.

An organization representative said the gathering had suspended tasks at its processing plant in the southern city of Gumi in South Korea after a specialist tried positive for the infection.

The plant, which makes Samsung's superior telephones like S20 and Z Flip foldable telephones, will continue creation on Saturday, she said.

Since late February, an aggregate of six laborers have tried positive at the plant complex in Gumi, near the city of Daegu - the focal point of South Korea's infection episode - prompting past impermanent terminations at the plant.

The transition to move yield of "some premium cell phones" to Vietnam "means to supply items to shoppers in progressively viable, steady and convenient way," Samsung said in an announcement.

"We are planning to return the yield in Gumi if the COVID-19 situation settles," he said.

Samsung has just moved quite a bit of its cell phone creation to Vietnam over the previous decade, where it makes more than 50 percent of its telephones and has so far observed little creation interruption. Its Gumi processing plant compensates for a little bit of its complete yield.

Samsung on Friday propelled its S20 lead cell phones all around as planned in the midst of worries that the infection would scratch interest for premium telephones at home and abroad markets.
